In the summertime, we absorb the hot, penetrating, slick qualities rising in the world around us. These elements can aggravate Pitta, the Ayurvedic dosha associated with the summer season. If your constitution is primarily Pitta, this shift can be particularly evident.
Known as agua de pepino, a delicious cucumber agua fresca from Mexico, in Ayurveda we might call it Pitta cooling elixir in a glass.
Ingredients:
6 cups water
3 cucumbers, peel and cut in a style of your liking
½ cup fresh squeezed lime juice
2 teaspoons of coconut sugar or local honey
Mint if you like it
Directions:
Juice cucumber and mix with equal parts water
Mix lime juice with cucumber juice.
Add coconut sugar.
Garnish with mint.

"I was dreading and anticipating hating a weeklong outside summer event. I’ve always hated summer. Hate being in the heat. Hate being in the sun. I am SO surprised! I enjoyed being there, being outside. I tolerated the high heat well and enjoyed the whole week. I was and am in a good mood. I was not affected by the heat and sun. And, for the first time in 46 years, I didn’t get sunburnt—I tanned!"

“Veena has been great. I suffered with burning mouth syndrome for many years. Doctors and dentists had no idea what I was even talking about, much less solutions. Veena knew immediately. Within a few weeks of using the herbs and protocols she recommended, I am not experiencing any of the symptoms I did previously. And, my thinking is clearer, I am nearly free from hot flashes, and I feel more like myself.
Everything has been easy to incorporate into my life, which is the best part. This feels sustainable. I highly recommend working with Veena.” – Liz Pfeffer, Albuquerque, New Mexico
