Ayurvedic Head Massage

Have you noticed your hair thinning with ageing or stress? According to the National Institute of Health, "Long-term, or chronic, stress puts people at risk for a variety of health problems. These can include depression and anxiety, as well as problems with digestion and sleep. Chronic stress has also long been linked to hair loss..."

Ayurveda offers a home treatment that addresses stress, promotes deep relaxation, nourishes healthy scalp and hair, rejuvenates the nervous system, and is said to support balanced brain chemistry and hormones. What else? Ayurvedic head massage promotes lustrous, shiny hair.

How To Do Ayurvedic Head Massage

1. Warm oil, it should be comfortably warm, but not too hot. Clients love our special hair oil blend.

2. Sit with your head, neck, and spine straight.

3. Apply a small amount of oil into the palm of your hands, and also pour about one tablespoon of oil onto the crown of your head, and repeat on both sides of your head. Now, gently tilt your chin towards your chest, and apply more oil along the back of your head to the base of your hairline.

4. Using your fingers, comb the oil through your hair. Using your fingertips, apply firm pressure, and small, circular motions to massage the oil into the scalp.

5. Massage the oil on your neck and shoulders as these are common areas for holding tension.

6. Cover your head with an old towel and avoid any drafts.

7. Now, go to our free guided practices, and do one of the 11 minute guided practices from Part 1 and continue directly on to Part 2. This will take about 24 minutes, the minimum amount of time for letting the oil to absorb into the skin and hair.

Alternative: You can keep the oil on overnight. Wrap the head in a towel, hair turban, cap, or put an old towel on your pillow and drift off to sleep.

Ayurveda Marma Points

1. According to Ayurveda, there are 108 marma points in the body. What’s a marma point? A marma is an energy point that is accessed on the surface of the body and is connected to deep, subtle energetic pathways called nadis.

Marma points are connected to organs, channels, pranas, and emotions.

2. There is a marma point called adhipati marma located on the crown of the head. It's located about eight fingers above the eyebrows in the center of skull.

It is a sensitive and sacred point. While performing Ayurveda head massage, using very gentle touch, work the oil slowly and gently outward using the circular stroke, with feather light touch.

“I discovered Veena on google and was very impressed by all of her glowing reviews. I purchased the half year Ayurveda package with 7 sessions. I'm completely new to Ayurveda and Veena was very knowledgeable, patient with my questions, warm, and has a great sense of humor.

I looked forward to our sessions and after more than a decade of chronic illness, things started improving with the protocols she guided me through. I feel like a different person in just half a year. The improvements are incredible, and I feel so hopeful and inspired by this experience.

I will continue the protocols I've learned and at our last session, I didn't feel like I would be left on my own. Veena is always an email or phone call away - she is very, very responsive, and helpful.

I am so glad I discovered her, and I encourage anyone for any health issue or concern to book with her and see how your overall wellbeing will improve. Thank you, Veena!” -Therese Nichols, Minnesota

There is a saying, "The mind is more in the body, than the body is in the mind." The Saumya 3 step meditation process shifts us from fight-flight-freeze mode, to rest-restore-relax mode. Give it a try for forty days and observe the changes. The more grounded and relaxed we are, the smoother life flows.

"The breath is the connection between the mind and body, so by training the breath, we become calm, focused, and grounded, we slow down the aging process by decreasing stress. These practices are so simple and easy to have as part of our daily life. We actually feel and look younger."

- Veena, Saumya Ayurveda

1. Learn Diaphragmatic Breathing and Change Your Life. When we re-learn to breath diaphragmatically, we move from the flight-fight-freeze mode, to rest, restore, relaxation mode from where we want and need to live.

2. Free Daily Guided Practices: 11 minutes in the morning and in the evening, as anchors of your daily Ayurveda routine.

"Choose a couple of practices from the Ayurveda routines that provide you with the greatest support. Perform them while applying our two minute meditation technique and your mundane tasks, just transformed into a mellifluous meditation. This is meditation applied to daily life." - Veena, Saumya Ayurveda

"Veena was able to help me regain my energy in just a few months and I’m feeling like my “young” self again! I love the food plan she designed for me, and all the supporting practices (am/pm routines, breathing techniques, herbs, and spice mixes) are so enjoyable to incorporate into my day.
