Great for hikes, rides, soccer game snacks--you name it! –Veena

Here's what I love about our Ayurvedic Trail Mix--it's high protein, low glycemic, I can tailor to the season and the partakers. It stores and travels well so it's a great way to avoid eating things we don't really want, but get in a pinch. I love this on long bike rides and hikes with the dogs.

Ingredients:


Tailor this recipe so it is balancing for your doshic picture. (Clients-just check your food program.)

  • 2 cups roasted pumpkin seeds

  • 1 cup roasted slivered almonds

  • 1 cup roasted sunflower seeds

  • 1 cup dried cherries (low glycemic fruit)

  • 3-4 tablespoons maple syrup or appropriate sweetener (adjust to taste and tailor based on your food program)

  • 1 pinch Himalayan salt

  • ¼ cup tiasted coconut flakes (optional, nice addition for Pitta and strong appetites)


Directions:


1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees


2. Mix seeds, nuts and maple syrup together, hold cherries aside


3. Line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper


4. Spread nut/seed mixture thinly on cookie sheets and sprinkle with a bit of salt


5. Bake for 20 minutes, watching closely


6. Let nut/seed mixture cool well


7. Peel the mixture off the parchment paper (will look like granola/brittle texture)


8. Now add dried cherries, store in glass container.
